Windows 11 Layout

Erm, so I just got offered a free upgrade to Windows 11, I saw that it looked like MacOS and I declined it.

Why are Microsoft doing this?

I don't like it lol... I was already unhappy with later versions of Windows after Windows 7, I'd be using Windows 7 now on my gaming laptop if it were a security risk.

Saying that I have an older desktop for retro gaming which I have Windows 7 on, but I rarely use that on the internet so I'm not worried, I also disabled some security features on Windows 7 to get older PC CDRom games like Harry Potter & the Philosopher's stone to work.

I'll stick with Windows 10 for as long as I can, but one day, they will eventually probably stop updating it with security updates etc.

My question is, what OS do I use then? Because I've never been a fan of the MacOS and whilst this Windows 11 OS clearly isn't a carbon copy of MacOS, I feel like they just make Windows worse every few years now.

So... Linux.... is that worth it? Only apps I would want to keep are FireFox, Steam and Antstream Arcade.

I would like GamePass on Linux too and maybe PS Now, does Linux support these?

I'm probably years away from needing to worry mind you. :v

But hey ho, if my gaming laptop every gives up and I need a new one, it's probably going to be pre-installed with Windows 11, maybe I'm just complaining and worrying over nothing, but I just saw that layout above and instantly thought of MacOS and I hated using MacOS on my ex partners Macbook. XD

I actually am a fan of it ? that’s most likely because I’m a IOS user too it certainly has some elements of it but it does look nice.

Sure I'll maybe give it a chance someday then ahahaha, definitely not ready to test it out on my main gaming laptop right now though ahaha. :v

I'm going to have to agree with Brad actually. I'm a huge fan of the new look too and I guess that's also because I really like the look of iOS. It's a shame that W11 is a mess though because at the moment, I wouldn't upgrade even though I wanted to before.

I'm glad I didn't upgrade yet then if it's a mess. D: Glad to hear some positivity about the layout, I'll probably check it out in the future. :D

Yeah, there are just way too many bugs and problems with it at the moment. Glad that the upgrade wasn't offered to me now because I would have upgraded right away. Some people are having issues with their Wi-Fi just not working at all which would be extremely annoying.

Oh yeah I'd be really annoyed if I had Wi-Fi issues ahaha

I'm down the middle. It looks better than Windows 8, but I definitely do not like it as much as Windows 10. Maybe when I have a windows 11 machine on my hands, I'll have a different opinion, though.
(also oops I accidentally posted this as a comment rather than a post, my bad.)

I generally don't mind the change as much as I thought I would.. The overall implementation just feels much cleaner than Windows 10, Microsoft actually seem to be getting rid of some of the bloat.

One thing that does annoy me though is that it sometimes takes a second click on the power icon for the options to actually appear.. not sure what that is all about, or whether it's just a bit of lag creeping in ?

This really sums it up perfectly. The upgrade looks really nice right now but I would hold off from upgrading it due to the fact that it's just too much of a cluster fuck. There are constantly patches required and over all it's atleast a year away from being a solid experience. For now just vibe with windows 10 for anyone who has it and wait a while. Just because it looks like Mac OS doesn't mean it functions as smoothly like it.✌️?

The layout doesn't look so bad to me. I'm just afraid that the update will slow my laptop down and require me to buy another one that already has Windows 11 on it :0 Tell me if I'm wrong, guys

People always whine when a new version of Windows comes out, then after it's been out awhile and a new Windows gets released, all of these people come out of the woodwork and talk about how the previously hated Windows release was amazing. It didn't feel that long ago when you couldn't find anyone online that had nice things to say about Windows 10, and now people swear by it and don't want to jump ship. I still remember how hated Windows 7 was and how people refused to jump ship from XP. Now people claim 7 is the best Windows ever despite how reviled it was for years when it was out.

Personally, I don't have any problems with it either. It looks good and neat to my liking and that's why I never wasted any time with upgrading to the version. I believe that Microsoft knows exactly what they are doing with respect to their Windows upgrades.

I don't like the layout but that's just because since I don't currently use it, I'm not used to it. I'm sure I would get used to it.
Yeah, that's how it goes with most of them. As long as you haven't started using it, it's definitely going to look awkward and you won't like it. But with time of using it for a while, that changes quick.
