Unfortunately this isn't to announce that classic Pokemon games are coming to Switch.
We've heard already that GB and GBA games could be coming to Switch. It would be awesome if we could get the classic Pokemon games on Switch. Other than re-releasing the classics on the 3DS E-shop, we still haven't had the 3rd gen classics come to the Wii U when they were selling GBA games on the Wii U Virtual Console. Which at the time would of tied in perfectly to go along side the 3DS classic releases of Pokemon gen 1 and 2.
My Wii U, I'm at a point with how lousy the Wii U GamePad that sometimes I don't want to Switch the console on. Add in that all my downloaded games from Wii U won't be accessible on Switch, I just get so annoyed with Nintendo nowadays. Thankfully I think the Switch Ecosystem will remain largely the same so that if we get a Switch 2 then any games across each gen will be playable, it's a sensible approach with an all digital future and I think Nintendo will take the approach of making sure future systems are backwards compatible with the online services for the classic games, meaning they can keep giving us content on Switch Online in the future without having to start the process over again like they did when they made the Wii U Virtual Console's ecosystem different to that of the Wii's, meaning they just re-released the same games and then when the time comes to put the 3rd gen GBA pokemon games in on the GBA section of the Wii U Virtual Console, that the machine was just already as dead as the dodo in terms of support from Nintendo.
Pokemon Classics on the Switch, this is something we absolutely need. When they finally launch GBA games on Switch then the 3rd gen Pokemon games are the ones we should get first.
I think we will to be honest, I was happy to see Pokemon Snap on Switch Online and with how better the emulation is getting now I can't wait to pick up and play Pokemon Snap on Switch Online.
If you wanted my opinion on when I think we will see GBA games on Switch, I am going to personally estimate September 2022. What say you?
